Accountant - Residential Construction & Development

Overview

A well-established residential construction and development organization in the Chicagoland area is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support their growing finance team. This is a hands-on accounting role ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, project-driven environment and wants exposure to both corporate and project accounting functions.

Responsibilities

Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and on time

Assist with month-end close and reconciliations

Prepare financial reports and support management with timely information

Support job costing and tracking project financials

Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company policies

Collaborate with project managers and finance team to resolve accounting issues

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation as needed

Qualifications

5+ years of accounting experience , in construction, real estate, or related fields

Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Viewpoint, Timberline, or similar)

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Good communication skills and ability to work across departments

Knowledge of GAAP is a plus
