Medical Technologist - Medical Laboratory

Shift: Variable (8-hour shifts; Days, Evenings, or Nights)

Important Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field required.
• Must be board eligible through NCA or ASCP upon hire.
• Must obtain ASCP Medical Technologist (MT) or NCA Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification within one year of employment.
• One to three years of experience in chemistry, blood bank, hematology, and microbiology or completion of a formal student internship.
• Must be able to work independently and provide direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants.
• Required immunizations include Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Polio, and Tdap (or acceptable titers/documentation).
• Required pre-employment screening includes background check, drug screen, competency checklist, fit test or physical, and other credentialing documentation.
• All credentials must be received and cleared prior to travel.

Position Summary

The Medical Technologist performs laboratory testing, quality control procedures, and communicates laboratory results with physicians, nurses, and patients. The role functions as a laboratory generalist across multiple disciplines while ensuring accurate test results, maintaining quality standards, and providing guidance to Medical Laboratory Assistants.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing across multiple disciplines.
• Conduct quality control procedures.
• Communicate laboratory results with physicians, nurses, and patients.
• Operate and maintain clinical laboratory instrumentation.
• Perform testing in chemistry, blood bank, hematology, and microbiology.
• Function as a laboratory generalist.
• Work independently while maintaining quality standards.
• Provide direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field.

Experience

• One to three years of experience in chemistry, blood bank, hematology, and microbiology, or completion of a formal student internship.

Required Certifications

• Board eligible through NCA or ASCP upon hire.
• ASCP Medical Technologist (MT) or NCA Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification within one year of employment.
