Job Description
The Project Construction Accountant is responsible for independently managing the complete financial lifecycle of multiple high-value commercial construction projects from initial project setup through final closeout. This highly visible role serves as the key financial partner to Project Managers and Executive Leadership, ensuring accurate project budget tracking, robust financial forecasting, and timely cash flow management. The ideal candidate possesses experience in construction-specific revenue recognition, WIP schedules, AIA progress billing, and proactive accounts receivable collection. salary: $75,000 - $95,000 per year

Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage formal monthly owner billings, specifically generating standard AIA G702 and G703 applications for payment based on verified percentages of completion.
- Ensure all contract billings comply precisely with specific client terms, local tax rules, and retainage agreements.
- Directly manage the Accounts Receivable aging report for assigned projects, executing consistent follow-up strategies to secure timely collections.
- Lead the monthly project forecasting process, collaborating with operational teams to update EAC.
- Prepare, maintain, and publish accurate monthly WIP schedules to drive appropriate over/under billing calculations.
- Analyze financial trends, cash burn rates, and project delivery schedules to generate precise cash flow forecasts for corporate management.
- Evaluate potential financial risks or margin erosion across the portfolio and escalate issues proactively.
- Establish and maintain project financial structures within the ERP system based on contract awards and initial cost estimates.
- Monitor active project budgets, commitments, actual expenditures, and change orders to ensure total financial accuracy and project profitability.
- Identify, track, and analyze budget-to-actual variances; partner directly with Project Managers to investigate anomalies and correct misallocations.
- Review, process, and code all project-related subcontractor applications for payment and change orders against budget lines.
